Writing, writing and more writing

As I get used to 2023 life in the wintery wilds of Wales, the year has started with a bang on the writing front, with lots going on. My first novel, The Madness of the Faithful, continues to do the rounds – seemingly making waves and stirring up discussion if the reviews are anything to go by (and some people get really riled up by the subject matter – perhaps a future blog topic…). I’m also soon to be recording the audiobook version for those wanting to read the book on the go (is it okay to say ‘read a book’ if you’re actually listening to it?).

Meanwhile, a relatively mature draft of my second novel (title soon to be announced) has been sent to beta readers. Once I have their feedback, then I will plan the next steps. The big question will be whether to follow the same independent publishing route as the first, or to pursue traditional publishing. Although hard work, I enjoy the level of control and involvement at each step that is possible from being an indie author.

As I wait for the second novel/manuscript to return from beta readers, I’ve moved on to the third manuscript, which I’m planning to be book 1 in a series of novellas set in a fantasy world. Again, I seem to have changed direction after the last manuscript. Something I seemingly enjoy doing in order to keep the process exciting and engaging. It’s like how some people pick their next partner as a reaction to the previous person. If the ex was quiet and reserved, then the new one is loud and brash. Actually, this description reminds me of someone, so I better stop there before I go any further.
