Winter is coming

Here we are, knee-deep in the last quarter of the year, snow is finally blanketing the high grounds, and the days are reassuringly bleak and dreary.

It’s been a whirlwind year: I changed jobs, moved house, and published my second novel.

On the latter, I’m pleased to report that initial feedback has been positive, though it’s still early days.

What I am certain of is that the second novel has deepened my love for folk horror. While I’ve always enjoyed stories that scare, the allure of folk horror – its isolated, pagan-believing worlds and clashes of modern and ancient – has truly captivated me.

Settling into our new home on the south coast of anglesey, the inspiration from the rugged landscapes and local folklore has perhaps augmented this passion. These elements have enriched my ideas, filling my brain with dark tales and colourful characters.

This year I aim to build on the excitement I’ve felt writing this subject matter and focus more on my craft in horror.

On the blog I plan to share some interesting local tales – many of which are worthy of featuring in folk horror tales themselves. And writing project-wise, I’ll share more when I’m ready.

Keep warm!
